Fall for the Holidays, Gourmet Open House at Farmers Market

Kick off the holiday food shopping season with inspiring tastes and demonstrations


This holiday season, we’re making it easy to meet all our gourmet grocers—yes they love the individual contact—so you have great resources at your fingertips.

Maybe you’ve been eyeing that 2 ½ pound Tomahawk Ribeye at Huntington Meats & Sausage, but have been too afraid to ask, just how do you cook a piece of meat that big. Or maybe your last wine and cheese party fell flat and you need help knowing what vintage goes well with soft cheeses.  Or maybe you just need to find a good place to get your knives sharpened.

On Saturday, Nov. 5, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the grocery merchants at The Original Farmers Market, Los Angeles are teaming together to host our first-ever open house event, “Fall for the Holidays.”  They’ll be serving up delicious cooking ideas, free samples and of course plenty of advice, just in time to kick off your own holiday meal planning.

Melting Pot Food VIP Grocery Tours
At 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., our friends at Melting Pot Food Tours will be hosting two special versions of their famed Farmers Market tour. The tour is so unique, you can’t buy tickets for it. Throughout the day, we’ll also be giving away raffle prizes, including a $500 grocery shopping spree for one lucky winner.  Additionally, Tusquellas Seafoods will be giving away two Atlantic Lobsters and a bottle of wine and Huntington Meats & Sausage and Sticker Planet are giving away gift certificates. And to get you in the holiday spirit, Shelley the Balloon Artist will wander the market from 1 to 4 p.m., while The Blind Blakes Trio, stroll from noon to 4 p.m.

And remember, while you’re here, be sure to pre-order holiday turkeys from Farmers Market Poultry and Marconda’s Puritan Poultry, and delicious pies from Du-par’s. These will sell out, so it’s a good idea to order early.
